On February 15-17, 2017 the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague in collaboration with the University del Piemonte Orientale organise the 8th international conference of Chemical Reactions in FOODS.

This event continues the successful series of meetings held in Prague in 1992–2012, under the auspices of Food Chemistry Division, EuCheMS. The key theme of CRF in 2017 is:

New knowledge on chemical reactions during food processing and storage

Excerpt of the topics that will be adressed:

• Chemical reactions in processed/stored foods
• Recent strategies for high food quality, increased shelf life and safety
• Chemical reactiosn involving food improvement agents (additives, enzymes, flavourings) mitigation food contaminants and residues

From October 26 to 28th the 2nd Congress on Food Structure Design will take place in Antalya, Turkey organized by Akdeniz University Food Engineering Department as follow of the framework of the EU-funded COST Action FA1001.

The goal of the 2nd Congress on Food Structure Design is to strengthen at academic and industrial levels the scientific understanding of product design and engineering and to stimulate and accelerate the development of innovative, complex and highly structured products and suitable production processes.

This congress is meant to gather an interdisciplinary team of scientists from different research areas (food engineering, biophysics, applied soft matter, food technology, applied human nutrition, creative design) in the frame of an integrated process & product design approach for creating innovative multiphase structured foods. The Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna (Italy) in collaboration with Elsevier is organizing the 2016 Writing Workshop  entitled "Writing on Food. How to publish in high impact factor journals: the keys to success, with daily writing exercises”. 

This five-day course is a practical workshop that will provide information, expert advice and practical experience on how to submit a paper in food science to a high-quality, peer-reviewed science journal – and increase the chances for getting it published. All participants will work on their own draft manuscripts for potential submission to a scientific food-science journal.

The target audience will be graduate students, PhD candidates and post-docs in food science (or in related disciplines such as food economy), along with any other interested individuals (e.g. faculty members). 

The course will be taught by Dr Judith Crews (Executive Editor, Journal of Food Composition and Analysis) under the co-ordination of Professor Tullia Gallina Toschi (Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna).

The Graduate School VLAG in cooperation with Wageningen university (division of human nutrition), organises the 4th international advanced course on exposure assessement in nutrition research. Lectures will be held at Wageningen university, starting on August 29, 2016 and ending on September 02, 2016.

The course will address methodological aspects of exposure assessment in nutrition and related fields of biomedical research. It consists of a series of lectures, supported by computer-assisted exercises. Also, discussions on exposure assessment in the participant’s own research will be part of the programme.
After participation the participant:

• Is able to make a well-informed choice from different methods of exposure assessment;
• Has insight in sources of measurement errors, consequences for exposure assessment, impact on associations observed, and methods to account for these errors;
• Is able to design and analyse evaluation studies, and to quantitatively present and interpret their results;
• Is able to critically evaluate exposure assessment in nutrition and related fields of biomedical research.

The ISEKI-Food Association (European Association for Integrating Food Science and Engineering Knowledge Into the Food Chain) and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna are organising the 4th International ISEKI_Food Conference to be held in Vienna, Austria, 6 - 8 July 2016.

The general aim of the ISEKI_Food conference series (Porto 2008, Milano 2011 and Athens 2014) is to contribute to the creation of an "open" international forum for researchers, education scientists, technologists and industry representatives as well as food consumers, to promote constructive dialogue and collaboration on topics relevant to Food Science and Technology, Industry and Education and to present and disseminate the results of the activities developed by the ISEKI_Food network projects.

Next to other pre-conference events there will also be a special meeting for IFA-National Representatives and Deputies on 6 July 2016 in the morning.
